about
(You Don't) Wanna Hear a Song, Pt. 3 is the sobering final track of the comedy album. The track is actually not comedy, instead it serves to recontextualize my use of silliness throughout the rest of the album by replacing it with honesty and vulnerability, saying "I can be a jester... but i just wish I could sing." The final lyric, which has been repeated in jest during Wanna Hear A Song Pts 1 & 2 takes on a new meaning, saying "I don't know what I was thinking when I asked to sing."
lyrics
it's hard to think I'm special
when I hear someone who can sing
foolish to think I've earned attention
when someone's lyrics really speak the truth
I can be a charmer
I can be a jester
but when it really comes down to it
I just wish I could sing
how can I demand attention when
details escape my planning
why would I ask for you to listen to me
if the table was full when I got here
I can be silly
if you will overlook
that when it really comes down to it
I just wish I could sing
I don't know what I was thinking
when I asked to sing
